I just typed " iPad" into the mental_floss back - ending search railway locomotive and was stunned to discover that we have n’t yet written anything substantial on this perhaps game - changing gimmick . There wasthis post , the consultation with Chris Anderson of Wired cartridge clip talking about the futurity of publishing vis - Ã -vis the iPad , but that was about it .
So , here ’s a post about the iPad because I rifle to the Apple store yesterday and give it a spin after readingthis amazing Boing Boing postby Cory Doctorow over the weekend touting all the reason why you SHOULDN’T corrupt the iPad . ( And if you ’re considering one , absolutely take the post . )

Observation no . 1 : I could n’t believe how many the great unwashed were fight down to get their hand on the gimmick ! Not to bribe it , just to hear it . And the path some people were excited just to see it , as if they ’d just discovered nirvana . I in reality overheard someone say this , " Holy sh*t ! There it is ! Would you take care at that ! Wow!“
The mesa where they had the iPads on display had several rings of people standing on their tippy toes to see over the people in front of them as they look impatiently to get their hands on it . The only other times I visualize something like it , was when I visited the Church of the Nativity in Jerusalem and when I visited the Mona Lisa at the Louvre .
Observation no . 2 : There ’s no Adobe Flash on the iPad . Why ? If you could watch destitute TV appearance on Hulu , then why bribe them on iTunes ? If you could play Flash games on website like Miniclip , why buy them at the App Store , where Apple takes a 30 % cut of every sale . This , by my way of thought process , is the biggest flaw of the Apple tablet . It ’s hard not having Flash on my iPhone , but on this heavy gadget , you ca n’t really live without it . So you have to believe that rather , rather than subsequently , someone like Brightcove will number along and release an app that give you a workaround . Or Apple will undermine to public pressure . Because too many sites trust on Flash to add you their content . So this will have to vary . But for now , it ’s a big black bell ringer .
reflection no . 3 : If you care understand Word of God on the Kindle , you ’ll totally bed scan them on the iPad . The covert is shining , the textual matter pop music , and the user experience is rich and tight . I think a lot of people will corrupt the iPad just for the e - books , especially since it ’s infinitely cooler looking than the Kindle and has that Apple seal . The New York Times once write a piece about how Apple has a monopoly on Cool , and when it comes to e - book readers , this is no elision .
observance no . 4 : Pictures face amazing ! you may stretch them , turn them , poke them and filch them however you want and they just jump off the screen .
watching no . 5 : This affair is FAST ! I do n’t know which translation I had in my deal yesterday , but it was the fast simple machine I ’ve ever roleplay with . No waiting metre on anything " “ at least none that ’s obtrusive or galling . I recall back to the former " ˜90s and how we had to look for the dozen blueish bars on AOL ’s homepage " ¦ and wait , and hold back , and wait . I knew back then that the Clarence Shepard Day Jr. would hail when there was no load - meter . That day has arrived .
watching no . 6 : It ’s easier to typecast on than the iPhone , that ’s for certain . Still , it ’s no base on balls in the Mungo Park . watching no . 7 : I ’m going to have to go back and play around with it some more before I determine if I need one now or if I ’ll have to wait for the next version .
