( It should be noted that , yes , the show ’s now just ignoring last week ’s domestic violence payoff . But that was so badly handled , I ’m actually ok with the writer just dropping it . They can try again when they ’re really capable of handling that topic in a serious fashion . )
Gabe ’s now ghost with trying to cure Beasts the path he was cured and Vincent ’s obsessed with vote out all the beast on the “ list ” Cat ’s bio - pa has . Vincent desire to concentrate on the list and forget the store Cast ’s stir up . Meanwhile , Tess is still pushing the “ Gabe ’s in love with Cat ” slant , which would make Gabe ’s quest for buyback manner less interesting than before , so I really hope it ’s not dependable . Ca n’t he and Tess be sensible and sassy together instead ? Gabe at least justifiedly say whatever possible feelings he has do n’t matter . She saved him , he owe her . Stick with that , Gabe . Keep the “ amends ” obsession , please — do not get entangled in a love triangle .
To be fair to Cat , she ’s in reality unforced trying to move on when Gabe position her flop back in Vincent ’s path . There ’s an incendiary that Gabe ’s figured out is a creature . He wants Cat to get Vincent to catch this Beast , and not kill him . Why ? Oh , so he can see if the trick with the defibrillator that Cat used to kill his Beast side will work on someone else . A+ plan , Gabe .
The memory theme shows up when Vincent goes after the Beast and stop up in the hospital with smoke inhalation . Gabe get him to a infirmary as a John Doe , and calls Cast who hasten to his side . All three of them meet the fire section ’s arson investigators , and Gabe recount them the oh - so - good prevarication that his name ’s “ Victor , ” he ’s an hugger-mugger agent , and he has amnesia . This does not really solve , but the ire of the arson investigator is agitate aside when the untried one , Aaron Keller , is revealed to be Vincent ’s nephew . Vincent has an attack of memories , which get a Beast dimout .
Cat ’s FBI bio - dada tells Vincent that all he has to do is hunt down down the rest of the Muirfield experiments on the list , and then he ’ll be detached to hold up his mostly forgotten life . Yeah . For a supersoldier , Vincent ’s superstupid to believe that .
The memories unwrap that Vincent was a firefighter in his past life-time . The retiring life from before he met Cat — not the one with Cat , that he also does n’t think of . So now we ’re keep track of both of Vincent ’s pasts . Discussing the memories helps reconnect Cat and Vincent . Taking a break from him is just not work out .
They figure out where the arsonist Beast will strike next , and Aaron belong on his own . The fire triggers a whole good deal of memories for Vincent : he was a fireman , his crony made him go back to aesculapian schoolhouse , and then Vincent see as his firefighter family line die out on 9/11 . Yes . The show pass there .
Vincent ’s retentivity blast and subsequent saving of Aaron permit the Beast get away . But that ’s okay , because Cat ’s there to shoot him and Gabe ’s got a defibrillator to assay out . It does n’t work , but at least the two of them acquire their “ super unethical medical experiment ” badge .
The instalment ends with the two theme . Failure to save the arsonist put no ding in Gabe ’s fixation to cure Vincent . And Vincent ’s amount to the conclusion that , even if they ’re painful , it ’s good for him to get his store and self back .
Overall , a solid episode . But I ’m not giving this show a strait on actually found Cat ’s bio - pa as a forbidding figure for much longer . All he ’s done is be creepy to Cat at her father ’s funeral and sing to people on the telephone . He does n’t want Cat and Vincent talking , but he has n’t done anything to intervene , just asked Vincent to rest away . Make him a believable handicap and this whole amnesia / rediscovering their dear plot of land may stop feeling like a gimmick designed to readjust everything after a season the writers did n’t like . It take to be a real idea with real impact , and not just a chance at a do - over .
