This hebdomad has made me reminisce about the yesteryear . A plenty of it has to do with the factthat The OC turn 10 . Some of it has to do with it being August and my schooling nipper association of August as the remainder of something ( summertime , mostly ) . And a little of it is because I ’m starting to tie up at large ends in another Josh Schwartz TV show Chuck .
Chuck skewed geekier than The OC but the show trance the same fun with an extra STD of unembarrassed silliness . If The OC ’s true appealingness was hidden underneath botoxed brow and bikinis , Chuck wore its geekiness as proudly as a Nerd Herder wore his sac protector . The cast was more or less older but just as beautiful ( not to mention unreasonably tall ) and even though Chuck never reached the cultural significance of The OC , it somehow lasted a time of year longer ( it felt like it was on the chopping block every season ) .
But I never obsessed over Chuck like I did with The OC . In fact , I never even finished the serial . Hell , I did n’t even know there was a fifth time of year . There were many reasons why I deal less for it — I was older , I was in New York — but as all this The OC nostalgia comes back to me in an Orange River glow on the Internet , it ’s making me miss the escapist excellence of some tv set shows . Like Chuck .
I do n’t always have to watch slap-up show like frantic Men . Or Breaking Bad . Or even Game of Thrones . Like how I do n’t always have to use up at hunky-dory dining restaurants like Per Se all the time ( even if I could afford it ) . Or jade a suit everywhere I go ( or wear a suit at all ) . Life is better when we take ourselves less seriously . Chuck , which hardly ever took itself seriously , get the lightness and balanced the ridiculousness of what telecasting should be sometimes . You do n’t always want to be taught about the degree of darkness and how the biz is rigged against us , you want to see a geek land the hot little girl and save the freaking humanity with his friend . Chuck might not be remembered like The Wire but that does n’t mean it involve to be forget .
So now after this nostalgic trip-up , I ’m gon na terminate out the serial because the 8th month of the twelvemonth intend it ’s fourth dimension to terminate something . For all you ethnic music who stick through Chuck when it was on the air , more ability to you . For those of you who have n’t watched it , you could start look on the some of the first time of year onthe WB . [ The WB ]
