CBS ’s Evilhas become one ofthis fall’smost pleasant surprises — if you may go for “ pleasant ” to a show that examines the very tough of humanity : successive killers , child murderers , antiblack doctors , people who produce fake “ trace hunter ” TV show , etc . But the worst of the worst award move to one quality : Leland Townsend .
Tweedy and bespectacled , Leland ( act by Michael Emerson , who is fantastic ) is characterless on purpose — a man you would n’t notice unless he specifically wanted you to .
