Richard Shermanhas been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Washington State Patrol stopped Sherman around 2 a.m. local time in Bellevue for going 79 mph in a 60 mph zone,CNNreported, citing a probable cause affidavit.

The athlete told authorities he had two margaritas when asked about his alcohol consumption, and he agreed to a voluntary test, the document said, per the outlet. It also stated that Sherman’s eyes were “bloodshot and watery” and that there was an “odor of intoxicants," according to theAssociated Press.

A representative for Sherman, as well as one for the Washington State Patrol, did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. It is also not immediately clear if Sherman has obtained a legal representative.

Sherman is now expected to have a court hearing on Monday, the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said, per CNN and the AP.

The former cornerback’s bail amount has not yet been set, CNN reported, citing the office, given that the court has not addressed the conditions surrounding his release.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Back in 2022, Sherman pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges tied to driving drunk and a domestic disturbance a year prior,The New York Timesreported. He also admitted to a criminal infraction of speeding in a construction zone.

Sherman had an 11-year career in the NFL, playing with the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He most recently worked as an analyst on Amazon’sThursday Night Footballbroadcast over the past two seasons.
