Jennifer Garneris the cover star of the Beautiful Issue!
In a PEOPLE exclusive clip of Wednesday’s episode ofThe Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 47-year-old actress opened up about gracing this year’s Issue.
Garner greetedEllen DeGeneres, 61, with a smile and a hug, and turned to wave at the fans. Blushing at seeing her PEOPLE magazine cover, Garner said, “Oh there it is. Oh, gracious!”
“You’re a beautiful person inside and out,” DeGeneres told her.
When DeGeneres asked if she felt pressure to look beautiful every time she left the house, Garner jokingly said that she’ll begin to thoroughly plan out her most glamorous day-to-day outfits moving forward.
“I don’t know, do you think? Do you think I should start really turning it up for school drop-off and stuff?” Garner quipped. “I think I’ll maybe wear some yoga pants, some leggings, maybe a ponytail.”
While Garner was beaming, she admitted, “I’ve never been more nervous than I am today.”
“I guess I thought you guys would boo. You know what I mean? Like you guys are expecting Kaia Gerber and it’s me,” she explained. “I feel like bolting.”
Despite the anxiety, Garner couldn’t help but blush at DeGeneres’ compliments, saying, “It’s so silly! But it’s nice, thank you.”
The actress — who shares sonSamuel, 7, and daughtersSeraphina, 10, andViolet, 13, with her ex-husbandBen Affleck— grew up in West Virginia, which influenced her style, she tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

Her job can mean she often undergoes a red-carpet regimen, but Garner says her “uniform” doesn’t stray too far from what she finds most comfortable.

“I try so hard to get out of workout clothes,” she adds. “But sometimes the day just doesn’t give you a break to shower and put on my other uniform, which is jeans, a sweater and sneakers.”
As for her beauty routine, Garner insists she’s not an expert when it comes to applying makeup.
“Do I seem like someone who’s good at applying makeup?” she says, laughing. “I own the nicest brushes and I own contouring things. If I used it, I would just look bruised.”
