Miley Cyrushad one of the most stylish nights at the2024 Grammys.
She wore not one, not two, not even three looks for music’s biggest night. No, the “Flowers” singer — and now Grammy-winning artist! —wore five different show-stopping outfitsfor the occasion. We’ve broken down all the details on those (and will do so again in a bit), but for now we have to talk about Cyrus' hair!
Yes, when Cyrus, 31, hit the red carpet at Crypto.com Arena, her custom Maison Margiela dress made a statement, but her voluminous hair had everyone staring too.

The performer turned to her longtime hairstylistBob Recine, of course, and he knew just what to do for a look that would tie together all five of Cyrus' outfits for Grammys night.
“I’ve been working with Miley for a long time and tonight we wanted to create [something] different than last year, with a style that felt like it had a ’70s, Barbarella feel while still having a modern, punk edge. By creating a big hair look, while still leaving some of the teasing visible, it allows the look to maintain a fresh, sexy feeling,” he tells PEOPLE.
Recine further toldByrdiethat he was also channeling ’70s icon Raquel Welch with the teased-up hairstyle.

The hairstylist usedNexxushaircare products to keep Cyrus' hair big and touchable all night — a feat considering the night she had. Cyrus was up and down off the Grammys stage, accepting two awards (her first Grammys ever) and performing her hit song “Flowers.” She even threw in a nod to Tina Turner in her performance, which also felt fitting for her bouffant-style hair and Bob Mackie fringe minidress.

He then used theNexxus XXL Volume Hairspray— even though he loves “all” the brand’s hairspray options — and sprayed each section as he dried it so he could tease the roots and get each section to lay exactly how he wanted it. He also used Velcro rollers at the top to create even more volume.
Lastly, he added a bit of hair oil for shine and softness to keep it smooth all night long.
Cyrus truly needed huge hair to balance out the sheer brilliance of all five of her looks for Grammys night, with each one more beautiful than the last. She started the night strong in acustom Maison Margiela dressthat took 675 hours to make and included 14,000 safety pins.

She then swapped into a black keyhole jumpsuit to accept her first Grammy before changing again into her archival Bob Mackie minidress to perform. Changing again, she then found herself in a black lack bustier and matching pants with a feather shrug. To end the night, she changed into one final head-turning look, a brown sequin Gucci gown that she wore back on stage to accept her Grammy for record of the year.
To end her acceptance speech, she joked that she forgot her underwear — which makes sense, because her gown had an extremely racy slit all the way up to her hipbone!
But turns out, it was only a joke, as the pop star confirmed today shewas in fact wearing custom Gucci pantiesthat matched her chocolate brown dress.
She took to Instagram to recap her night with a carousel of photos, and a heartfelt — and humorous — caption.
“First Mariah then Meryl & Mark. It’s so fun to share the stage with my friends@kidharpoon@pollackmusic@tylersamjThis third photo sums up our relationship perfectly. You 3 wanting me to do all the talking until I start talking….,” she wrote, before adding, “PS I was only kidding…. I had on matching custom@guccipanties🤎 thank you for the head to toe chocolate custom couture@sabatodsxoxo you didn’t forget a thing. Love you all.”
